Thoughts

thoughts gathering in the field of a solitary mind
thoughts from the deep past come
they bow then fly away
like clouds of the tropical storm
tossing here and charging there
the thoughts come mocking me
listening to me, inquiring from me
demanding from me high thinking
where is sympathy and innocence?
where is the saintly forgiveness?
while the thoughts keep flowing
in torrents, in waves, in shingles, in ebbs
then repentance hang on penance
gyves in tongs of endurance
guarded by dedication and determination
but thoughts gather on the ingathering thoughts
and the solitary mind is left but thoughtless

Excellent write, to me in the stillness of the night the wayward thoughts begin to invade and plague the mind destroying moments of solitude and peace. Enjoyed this read.
