Those Were the Days

I tell myself everyday, how lucky I am to have married such a great woman. Her name was Alice. She had beautiful blonde hair, sapphire eyes, and a great heart. Whenever I am around her I feel as though I am already in heaven. I will never forget when we first met, walking on the boardwalk. The ocean was aqua blue, so clear that you could see the coral resting in the bay. I accidentally walked over her, while she was lying in the sand. She was the only thing that could take my eyes off of the crystal blue water. Those were the days. I will never forget our wedding night, on the same beach where we had met. We took eachother's hand, and gave our everlasting vow of love for eachother. I could not stop looking at her eyes. I could see angels smiling back at me. her eyes were like a solar eclipse, so beautiful and rare. Our wedding night, the night of our lives. We now belonged together forever. Those were the days. I will never forget when we had our son, Daniel. He had his mother's eyes and smile, and his hair color came from me. When delivered he did not shed a tear, but he looked at me and smiled. He smiled at me just like his mother. We laid in bed together that night, nothing waking us from a peaceful sleep. Those were the days. I will never forget my son's graduation from the University of New York. Alice and I were so proud of him, and still are to this day. Sadly, for Alice, I saw some problems were on the way. She had many fainting spells, and had short attention span. But she continued to hang on. Daniel's graduation day. My, how proud I was of my son. Last night was the most disturbing of all. I laid in bed beside my wife, kissed her on the cheek goodnight. She looked at me like I’ve never seen her do, and said to me, “Do I know you?”

This is a heart breaker....Have you watched the movie.."The Notebook"...or read the book. My mother had alzheiner's disease or some dementia and it is like loosing the one you love twice. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara
