It's Friday and I am feeling so woebegone, I woke today full of tragic melancholy; the day is dark with rainfall and I have withdrawn. I just want to hide so no-one sees my beauty, oh please no men looking with lust- women with hate; I woke today full of tragic melancholy. I look in the mirror trying to concentrate, deciding to hide in my long hair all Friday; oh please no men looking with lust- women with hate. Hood on, I go to the store for a rose bouquet, velvet red roses I press to my ruby lips; deciding to hide in my long hair all Friday. Woeful I am writing and my bleeding pen drips, I think a poet needs a bit of sad forlorn; velvet red roses I press to my ruby lips. Today, poems will be born- from a soul words torn, it's Friday and I am feeling so woebegone; I think a poet needs a bit of sad forlorn, the day is dark with rainfall and I have withdrawn. _______________________ February 23, 2018 Poetry/Terzanelle/This Woebegone Friday Feeling Copyright Protected, ID 18-9967-83-01 All Rights Reserved. Congrats on your beautiful melancholic write, BW. It is tragic to be too beautiful isn't, of course I haven't had that problem in ages... but I do remember the burden. LOL

This is gorgeous, Constance, and I can so relate, (well, not the long hair) ... my problem is I love the melancholy, and tend to immerse myself in it, with an odd sense of joy - familiarity, perhaps? Love this one from end-to-start ... it crimps the edges of my heart - a wonderfully sublime write! Best to you in the contest! :-) <3

One of my favorite songs is by a wonderful musician named Michael Franks, and it's called "I Don't Know Why I'm So Happy I'm Sad" ... I think you might enjoy it. He combines Jazz and Pop and always has the best studio musicians on his albums, (and writes songs about very "artsy" things, including Art, famous paintings, poets, etc.) ... he's been a fav of mine since the 70's.

I think you must be my long-lost sister, Constance ... melancholy is my muse, (and the moon, of course)! Blessings, Friend! :-) <3

I like these lines so much! "I woke up today full of tragic melancholy." This happens to me sometimes, with no idea why. "Deciding to hide in my long hair all day," fits my daughter to a tea. Well-written, and such a great offering. Thank you.
