This Is You

This is you
April 21, 2014 at 8:42pm

On a moonless night black as the bottom of a deep water well

In your head you rearrange star constellations to suit your desires

Look up, look down to that which is yet to be and that which has passed before

Throw it into that infinite void of empty space

Where you try to imagine all possibility

Pluck the unwanted from your mind’s eye

So that it’s only your vision to remain in narrow focus

Born and strengthened by an enveloping darkness

You know your light

As a firestorm rises from your belly

And you open your mouth to scream

But there’s no sound at all, only a streaming light from your gut

That illuminates a small segment of indigo sky

And you know it’s you that must prevail.
