This Earth
When we come to it,
This dark night, black night
When our stars have finished
Weeping for our poor lives,
Moon and sun who once
Lived on this earth
Continue to climb ladders
In search of new galaxies,
Our illuminations waste away
Like the fickle desert dunes.
When we have failed the earth,
Turned our back on humanity,
Forgotten we are all each other have,
When will we realise the death of our Earth?
The carpets of tress where magicians walk
Across the land are torn off,
And our waters’ eyes are splashed with black oil,
This body, this mother Earth
Is a temple that requests
The adoration of pristine jewels
The gentle care that a child requires
And the protector of this land is us,
You and Me.
This mind is both a sword and healer
The magic rests within our heart chasms
That can unleash true change,
True revolution.
