Thirty Years Feels Like a Second

A tingling in my feet
A familiar scent in the air
The train track still upon high bank
The fields overgrown, almost now lost of care

The memories flood the mind
The cricket and the bikes

That’s where we made the rope swing
Over the stream to the other side

I can still hear the road, I can still see the trees
They’ve not really changed, but me I’ve changed indeed.

I can remember playing in the snow
Watching the sunset from the field

Thirty years have passed and more
Since my feet last stood in this field

I can almost hear our voices as we played all day on this, our field

I turn before I leave to see time fall around my feet

For the hours, days, years of my life are locked in memory

Thirty years feels like a second....
I’m struck still in deep memory

Thirty years feels like a second...

How can that really be?
