Notes About The Poem

Thief of Hope

There is a war inside my soul
When I think – how this might go
Can this prayer still make me whole?
There is grief … oh, can I hope?

There is a fear living inside
Where truth and love provide
One who knows the bloods applied
Can I hear the voice of light?

There is a war that grips my life
Will God see beyond my fight
The tears I’ve cried in this strife
Such an ache, overflowing dread

There is a fear I can’t let go
It’s a battle that darkens my soul,
There is only One I know…
Who can silence this sorrow, healing…

Beyond the darkness, in spite of the grief
I can see the reason for my heart’s belief
He is the Savior who brings such relief
With Him beside, I’ll overcome this thief
