Notes About The Poem

Thief From the East

We
We're
Born to live
Born to die
But not like this
So unexpectedly so
We were young
We were old
We were full
Of life
We were in
Love in love
With all
They stole our
Hearts
But not our souls
Nor our spirits
We will live On
For all eternity
To see
They came by way
On magic carpets
Riding wayward winds
From the middle east
With ideology beliefs
Concepts not understood
They did
Handshakes and smiles
Creeping like snakes
In the grass
Bombs between
Their legs
They tried to break
And shake us
Killing countless
People
For what
They don't understand
Our beliefs our ways
Perhaps they just don't
Give a damn
But you see
We have Faith
Faith in our Lord
Faith in our fellow
man
So we will continue
To strive for this thing
We call freedom
A passion for survival
Of freedom for one
Freedom for
All..

Powerful words my friend:-) 'they stole our hearts not our souls' - 'So we will continue To strive for this thing We call freedom A passion for survival Of freedom for one Freedom for All'.. I can relate to this so much with my father when his homeland of Lithuania was invaded and he was forced to leave :-) Hugs Jan xx 7 xx

My dad's ashes are to be sent to Lithuania - his name is already on the family plot as is my mum's and sisters. He truly will be back 'home'. Dad was able to travel back to Lithuania about 7 times when Independence was regained. Hugs Jan xx

A lot of us have left other countries to to make this our home For different reasons,or to settle in other countries..it's very sad sometimes we can't even go back..we take our blood and souls and try to make it in another country..and make it our own but we will never forget what Our forefathers did and their struggles..thanks again jan
