They know not what they do
I saw him there, sun in his hair
Bloody crown upon his head
I felt each pound… each hammer sound
For I was nailed to the same wooden death bed
I knew at once this was God's son
That he was innocent of all wicked deeds
Compared to him I was deep in sin
A thief deserving of all they do to me
But Jesus the Christ, the world's sacrifice,
He said, “ I forgive you” and we'll meet in paradise!
He peered through tears as the crowd mocked and jeered and said Father please forgive them too…
For they know not what they do.
How could this be? Beside me hung a King…
The very God who made the trees we hang upon
His creation alive, oh how beautifully thrives
And just look at what we have done!
And where are the men who swore they were friends, disciples who followed wherever he'd go? Denying they knew that he was true and with the dawn came the crow.
But Jesus the Christ, the world's sacrifice,
He said, “ I forgive you” and we'll meet in paradise!
He peered through tears as the crowd mocked and jeered and said Father please forgive them too…
For they know not what they do.
And His love for us was shown
The greatest love ever known
By his blood we are free
Oh Father, please forgive me….
But Jesus the Christ, the world's sacrifice,
He said, “ I forgive you” and we'll meet in paradise!
He peered through tears as the crowd mocked and jeered and said Father please forgive them too…
For they know not what they do.
They know not what they do.
