These Haunting Fears -1 Samuel 17: 45
Throughout life, particular fears have haunted me
in school, adolescence band adult life up to now
the fear of speaking to others especially strangers
it's been so natural to fear them and just bow
Recently someone said you can speak fine
it's all the rest of the clutter that beats you
the tension, anxiety, low self-esteem and fears
in the mind that's defeated saying this, I can't do
Learn well like David to trust in the Lord
to face my fears in God's mighty glorious name
bringing with me the God of the armies of Israel
so God's glory supremely would be my aim
Fear gets within the heart makes one doubt
with anxious tense nerves all in a spray
one thinks this tongue's tied who'll loosen?
God's able to do what I want to say
(This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,)
