These Are the Days

These are the days we’re all paying more
than what our health care should be paying for.
Prices go up but my check the same stays.
We’re all paying more; these are the days!

These are the days for staying inside.
No more bikinis, skin getting fried.
Now I am wiser about UV rays.
For staying inside, these are the days.

These are the days to see my face drop.
If I had money, I’d make it all stop!
Off to the stylist to cover my grays.
To see my face drop, these are the days.

These are the days to keep up with health.
Once you’re past 60, it’s better than wealth.
Praying my mind doesn’t go in a haze.
To keep up my health – these are the days!

These are the days to watch what I eat.
Nothing too fatty or tasty or sweet.
I’m taking a risk deep frying fillets.
To watch what I eat – these are the days.

These are the days I live hand to mouth
wondering if I ought to move south
to Costa Rica. I hear it’s the craze!
I live hand to mouth. These are the days!

“These are the days” I'd dreamed not to say
so quickly before life was more than halfway
behind me! Going into autumn’s phase,
I'd dreamed not to say “These are the days.”

June 5, 2018 for Daniel Turner's "These Are the Days" Poetry Contest

Form is swap quatrain but 1/4 kyrielle style.

With the passage of time, many things are changed but what to do, that s what life is, it will definitely take me long while to turn 60 but life s really short to worry about money or problems, live it to it s most, you don t need money to be happy, even a small moment canbe turned into happiness and liv every sigle moment, these are the days to live, to have surprises, once you are in heaven, many things will be different, it was a really nice written poem, good luck in the contest

Oooo don't stay inside to much Petal, you'll wither away lol. Since I passed that magic number I've been busier than ever, I think pushing yourself that bit further helps. No need to look me up I got nothing new on. Take care, Richard

So sad when you get to 60 you have to be careful what you eat. I've cut out the junk I used to eat and feel better for it, no more trans fats clogging up the arteries lol.good luck. Tom

I'm being SO good but now I have some really weird thing going on inside my mouth and no doctor can seem to help me, so I'm going to try holistic doctor this Friday. I think I have some food allergy. Probably to one of the few yummy foods I can eat!!
