These Are the Days

THESE ARE THE DAYS

These are the days of turmoil and sorrow
Days that mirror Sodom and Gomorrah
Days where our country is engaged in war
Days that God must certainly abhor

Days where children senselessly kill
Schoolmates and teachers just for a thrill
These are the days where drug lords rule
Where justice is spurned and played the fool

Murder and mayhem are a way of life
Creating fear and causing great strife
These are the days where justice is blind
Days that may soon be the fall of mankind

These are the days that many are dreading
Days that may soon become Armageddon
These are the days that are beginning to look
Like those described in Revelation's book

These are the days of misfortune for man
Days that are difficult to understand
But every knee shall bow and every tongue confess
That Jesus is Lord and He will end all stress

He will separate the goats from the sheep
There will be great sorrow and gnashing of teeth
Christ is the Truth, the Life, and the Way
To escape the torment of 'these are the days'

Congratulations on your win! There may be a lot of truth in what you wrote... definitely in God's words for salvation. I liked how you did this. Wasn't preachy or judgmental of any one person, your rhythm and rhyme are exceptional.

WOW, Susan! What an astute observation. It I write about anything that may be controversial, I try to ensure it is not directed toward and particular group so as not to offend anyone. I'm glad that came across to you in this entry. Thanks for your observation and support.

Congratulations Curtis on your placement in my contest. I fear you may be more correct than you think. others may not appreciate religion in poems but yours happens to coincide with my opinion.

Daniel, thank you for selecting my entry as a winner. You are right about others not appreciating religion in poems, but it warms my heart to see that our opinions coincide. I appreciate your compliment and your kindness.

Powerfully penned Curtis, Such a sad state of affairs all across the world. Your line 'Days that may soon be the fall of mankind' hits hard but I hope 'man' sees the error of his ways before it is too late and it never comes true:-) hugs jan xx
