"There's a river meandering through the mind." Follow it and leave the world behind. Don't be in such a rush. Hear a nightingale. See a thrush. There are many things to find. The space inside the head is not confined. All things are sweetly intertwined. Sipping ice-cold lemonades, Annette, the neighbor girl in braids - such memories, by the riverside, enshrined. I will stroll by its grassy banks so free, skipping and whistling to eternity, knowing I can never be wrong, with a feeling in my heart, so strong, I'll see the river float into the sea, and, one day, you'll be together with me.

David, wonderful flowing rhymes that match the flow of a river. This poem speaks of childhood and hope for the future! BTW, my given name is Annette and, As a child I wore my hair in braids! Now that time takes me back a few years! This poem has a wonderful cadence enhanced by the way you have structured the words! Enjoyed this very much for a number of reasons:) Blessings! Best wishes for the contest!!

Thanks Sam/Annette! There was a real little girl named Annette who lived 4 houses down and had braids. I think one reason she keeps popping up in poems is that I like the name Annette. Also, she had pretty honey colored hair, and she wore it in braids, which seems to remind of innocent childhood days.
