There Wasn'T Any Summer That Year - Song Lyric

Song Lyric Contest

There Wasn't Any Summer That Year

(Intro)
Five dollars for the future
An hour tells you all
The Gypsy knows the answers
They're in her crystal ball

(Verse)
The calendar read August first... two thousand fifty two
But no one saw the pages... and no one ever knew
Nothing ever changed again... even time stood still
Nothing ever changed again... and nothing ever will

(Chorus)
And there wasn't any summer that year
Wasn't any summer that year
Just before July... the world we said we loved... died in fear
And there wasn't any summer that year

(Verse)
No one thought that it could happen... and they never thought again
There were no second chances... no looking back to when
And even frozen darkness... doesn't bother anyone
There's no one to remember... standing in the sun

(End Reverse Intro Music Theme)
The crystal ball went empty
The Gypsy turned away
I'd asked her for the future
And now I'd have to pay

(Repeat Chorus and fade)
And there wasn't any summer that year
Wasn't any summer that year
Just before July... the world we said we loved... died in fear
And there wasn't any summer that year

Your muse should be turned into a song for sure Jane! This has excellent lyrical melody and leaves a lasting impression of memories. Congratulations on your win. Keep writing and inspiring :)

Thank you so mush... I wish you were a song publisher... LOL... I wrote this as a song lyric in 1987... but my demo tapes were never listened to because... I had no contacts in the music industry... still don't... from 1980 to 1990 I spent a decade sending tapes to publishers and producers from NY to LA to Nashville... have hundreds of 'we don't accept unsolicited material' rejection letters to show for my efforts... LOL... do you know of a song publisher with an open mind?... probably not but it doesn't hurt to ask... LOL... I haven't been posting on this site very long and it is still confusing... but I appreciate a place where I can share my work... and your encouragement... thank you again and God bless you... JVD

Thanks Jane for this nice entry, the form tells me you know how to write a song, aside from the spelling in the title, this song has great bones, congrats on a nice win!

Thanks for pointing it out... fixed it... my eye doctors tell me that without my glasses I am legally blind and that I am 'the most dyslexic person on the planet.' ... LOL... And so I rely on copy and paste... one word at a time from Microsoft word... I missed copying the last two letters.... LOL... but I try hard... If you see any other mistakes please let me know... and please sponsor another song contest... I loved it... thank you again and God bless you
