There Was a Time

There was a time
when I couldn’t find
the person you see
within the person I be.
Your eyes would stare
into my blank glare
as Self loathing inside
pushed true feelings aside.
Not knowing what to do
I did nothing, but not you.
You said good bye
while I sob, cried
and frantically pleaded.
It was exactly what I needed!
The Doc
and I talked, and talked, and talked
added a few meds
that cleared my head
over some time
I came to find
The loathing now gone
Replaced with happiness that belonged
Meds now set aside
And you back by my side
The person you see
Is who I will always try to be.
