There Was a Time

There was a time when poetry was poetry...if that makes sense; I mean, there was a reason for writing beyond the writing; and those tools of rhythm and rhyme, transcended words, and were divinely transcribed to bring out a greater revelation of spirit and soul-- and, at the least, poetry was for the young, romantic heart, to feel wonderfully young and romantic… and for the old romantic heart, to never feel quite so old….

I helped 2 grandsons memorize a couple lines from Shakespeare. The older one a bit resistant but it doesn’t hurt. “I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, where oxlips and the nodding violet grows” A bit of rhythm and rhyme, imagery and whimsy...why not?!

Love it! Grandmother! No! I don't believe it:) My wife has taught music and art on all levels of education. When she was little her mother did everything under the sun to make her study piano. It was a battle. But it was the right thing to do. Blessings my friend!

Hello Joe DiMino, yes i agree some should put effort into what they say the language the young ones uses makes me want to scream as well. I feel the same way as you about this. Have a nice evening my friend.

I hear you, Darlene. I just wish some would be, perhaps, a little less easily satisfied, to put more effort into what they do and say. But I am a dinosaur. To me (but what do I know?), too many people today seem lazy and sloppy--poetry, music, and manners--more garbage than usable product. Difficult for me when I go out and see how young men and women treat one another. The language...eek! Happy I am now down in the short rows of life.
