There Is This Hole

There is this Hole

I want not to stand on the edge of – any longer
looking constantly to the other side of
– for what could be ? – when all that faces me
is what lies in this – the black hole abyss.

Am I on the edge of ?, or in the centre of ?,
- a black cloud vortex enveloping my soul –
asphyxiating the life, out of this spirit
that once upon a time, could rise above.

Is this the only place for my heart and soul ?
Is this the only thing I will ever get to know ?,
with every step I take, with the love that guides
my spirit beyond that which reality is –
that constantly slaps me in the face, as I face
the emptiness of the soul I have tried to know.
I have reached out for a star – a vortex of light ?
