There Are No Good Goodbyes

For every good thing in this life
There seems to be a bad
All the good ones make us happy
The bad ones mad or sad

But then there is the word goodbye
Which I've never understood
Cause every time I've said those words
Was anything but good

When those I love must go away
Other words I utilize
See you later, so long, farewell
Or wave and just say bye

But every time I've said goodbye
It always made me cry
And that's the reason why I say
There are no good, goodbyes

You're right, Daniel. "Bye" and "goodbye" are very different. "Goodbye" implies finality. Congrats on your well-deserved win! Janice

I think the people in Hawaii have it right with Aloha, hello and goodbye combined into one. This is a very well expressed contemplative piece.

Hi Daniel, I agree with this well written write. There's nothing good about goodbye. When I have to say goodbye it's very difficult to do. If this is for the contest, I wish you the best of luck. A undeniable seven:-) Alexis
