The Year of Twenty-Twenty

Living alone this Twenty-Twenty year,
I truly cannot help feeling so sad.
Although I know that many hold me dear,
I need friends near, to be happy and glad.
While waiting, I mark my plans on a pad.
We're trying to do what those in charge say.
Our lives have all changed in such a big way.
To some the illness has brought great sorrow.
When this disease goes, a much brighter day
We'll all look for a better tomorrow.

Congratulations Joyce! Your poem earned a distinguished place in my contest. This contest was difficult to judge, calling for exacting syllable counts and perfect rhymes, as requirements of this form. Well done my friend, Emile.
