Notes About The Poem

The Wounded

They all sleep
Or weep
In hospital beds
Or in prison dregs

Pain and sorrow
Missed tomorrows
Yesterday's wishes gone
Tomorrows become undone

I miss them all
Who will be first?
To that last road that ends
Where a new life begins

In Disneyland

That last line completely threw me, Arthur. Disneyland? Booo...that's supposed to be all fun under the sun. Good write...I'm with Connie.

Your poem would stand alone, deep and profound even without the last line. It could be taken metaphorically as well. Great work Arthur! : )

Wounded but not dead. Love for something or someone hangs on. When that love is gone I'll be first on that road. We are all wounded in some way but as we help other woundeds we heal. The moral is: Find someone to help and you will live again.

Woo-Hoo, Disneyland! I know this write is more than just talking about the joys of Disneyland, but I just had to get excited about it, I love the theme park...it's an awesome place! I thought you have written a magnificent poem about more than just the theme park...it all comes together when you said, "To that last road that ends/Where a new life begins" so deep! Great Work my friend, I loved it!!
