The World Today

In a world torn asunder by conflict,

As the grasses wither and die.

Mighty beasts that roam shall

Be no more, while every fish

Chokes to death from our waste,

I ask you this, Mankind:

What shall become of the weeping

Willow trees? As you build thy houses

Of ash, elm, maple and oak.

Adding cedar, fir and pine. My

Goodness are we so blind?

Watching birds as they fly

And fall from the sky,

I ask thee, Mankind, why?

good one..wood has always been the building material for forested nations but we have forgotten the value of a tree's life and sacrifice...cutting faster than they can grow.. it breaks my heart when I see boats with so much teak just rotting away and not cared for....we waste so much and seem to enjoy tossing stuff out like we will never run out of landfills and the ocean will miraculously just swallow the trash away! It's too hard or inconvenient for many to sort their recyclables too! ugh! :)

Well written. So powerful and heartbreaking what happens to nature and wildlife like this. You have truly shown it. I hope you are well :)
