The World of Love
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Her half-crooked smile
lets me know it’s true.
Her feelings for me are real—
but do I really love her
the way I loved you?
I’m not sure anymore
about what I thought I once knew.
When I look into her eyes,
I see the darkness—
a mystery pulling me to wonder:
is this real?
Can someone truly replace
the boy I loved so long ago?
Can someone actually
fix this broken heart?
“Let’s run away together.
Leave our troubles behind.”
I look at her like she’s crazy.
“Let’s do it. Just you and I.”
Am I just as crazy?
Her lips are warm—
not like yours,
but sweet,
and soothing.
She holds me tight
as she plans this trip through the world.
“The world of love,” she calls it.
I like it.
“What places do you have in mind?”
“Anywhere you want to go...
as long as I’m with you.”
