The World is Bleeding

God dispatches two angels
for each missile sent in war
to recover the souls of those perished

He then lets nature clean up the blood
with insects and bacteria
so the war-torn scenario is blessed

It’s too common a sight
men, women and children
dying in war zones

Heavens gates are swayed open
with a constant line of new souls
carried by the angels

When will the killing stop
when will the world heal
when will the angels get to break

Thank the good lord that you get to
sip your tea and watch family feud
while others are less fortunate

Let’s pray for them
perhaps the rosary
they do not deserve to die

"When will the killing stop when will the world heal"- This is a question that springs up from every corner of the world. But it only returns to the sender as an echo of pain. We all long for a world of peace. But it remains a rosy dream. How I wish if the warring nations sense the pain of those innocents affected by the war. Powerful poem, dear Robert.

I loved this. Your poem powerfully contrasts the divine effort to recover souls lost in war with the mundane life of those safe at home, raising a heartbreaking question about when the killing will end. The vivid imagery of angels, a constant line of new souls, and nature's cleanup highlights the immense and ceaseless human cost of conflict. This poignant reflection serves as a call for empathy, urging us to pray for those suffering and hope for a time when the world can finally heal.

A very impactful and soul stirring poem this is dear robert, as we today witness so much of this more than before we wonder too "When will the killing stop when will the world heal when will the angels get to break" i wish and pray for a world that is more peaceful and less violent! Your words flow well and youv expressed from a very empathetic point of view. If only many would think and feel the same as your poem, this world would be a better place: pleasure visiting. sending you light always

You write very well on this topic, Robert. I like how you put the angels into it.

I wish, the good lord gave us freedom to do good or evil, sadly most do not realize being silent over a genocide is, well evil. Hopefully more poets will speak up, even I have my doubts.

The world is held to ransom by old duffers who really should be put out of their misery. Young people have got better things to do with their time than killing other young people.
