She is
has always been
a safe place for joy
It radiates from her pale skin
Her frame is small and slight
The shadow walkers
fail to see her magnificence
“She’s such a daydreamer”
“When will she ever grow up”

Little magical things
recognize their own
Butterflies flit about and softly land on her
They feel no threat
She has an essential calm
Together they vibrate in harmony
Wordless whispers
Wings of wonder
Joyful oscillations
She leans into her happy
Unabashedly open
Floating on imperceptible notes
A delicate destiny
An eternity of possibilities
Her direct path to joy

It’s so sad the shadow walkers cannot see
They cannot dream
They cannot feel her joy
They are bogged down in the muck of responsibility
Yes, they grew up far too quickly
To them the world is grey.

Richard, you write in such a compelling and well-crafted way. The contrast between the precarious situation and the natural charm is brilliantly and dramatically brought to light via shadow walking.

Rick, I too had always got in trouble for daydreaming... at least I wasn't a shadow walker (lol). Merry Christmas to you and your family! Charlie

Every report card in grade school I got “Ricky is always day dreaming in class.” Some old habits you can’t break. Merry Christmas Charlie.

She stands as a paragon of ebullience, radiating joy and peace around. She is so calm that even butterflies feel safe to alight on her. But the 'shadow walkers' cannot see her grace. Their eyes are blinded. Beautifully pictured, dear Richard !

Beautiful and as always you do storytelling so very well, from the very first line i was intrigued to read more until the end, which has a very soul stirring flow to your lines so well articulated. I especially felt “ She’s such a daydreamer” “When will she ever grow up” how the world can sometimes be so judgmental is evident in those lines.brilliant ending too, pleasure reading your work

This is such a whimsical poem with beautiful descriptions and imageries that swirl in the essence of a resplendent aura. When the world before grey, was elegant with compassion and joy.. But that ending part presents a contrast where those shadow walkers live in the seconds of gloominess and cease to appreciate the colours of life. Such a wonderfully knitted write..
