The Wishing Well

There was a little fella in my garden,
I didn't know his name,
he came knocking at my back door
and my window pane.
He said....
"I've come to make you happy"
"I've got a secret I wish to tell"
then he led me down the garden path,
to a magic wishing well.
"Quick as you like"
"Toss in a coin,
do it straight away"
"May the luck of the Irish
be with you"
is what I heard him say.
So I reached into my pocket
and pulled out a shiny pound,
tossed it into the well
and listened for a sound.
As I stood there waiting
to hear my coin go 'splash'
Out of the well a rainbow appeared
and it started raining cash.
I started running to keep up
with the rainbow as it
zoomed through the sky,
then when it touched ground,
something glistening
quickly caught my eye.
There it was at the end of the rainbow,
a cauldron filled with gold.
So now then children,
listen well to fairy tales,
as the truth is sometimes told.
