The Wisdom of My Heart
My heart is wise
in love years
the wisdom has come
with its own price
the shedding of blood mixed with tears
and the actualization of fears
My heart is wise
In love years
It has markings
promises not kept
have gouged deep
leaving furrows of remembrance
scar tissue of still throbbing pain
betrayal has almost torn
the chambers in two
lots of repair work to do
but my heart has survived
it still thrives
it’s wisdom beyond belief
cautiousness its new beat
My heart is wise
In love years
The scars have made it callus
unfeeling
no longer supple
A hardened mass of wisdom
regarding the nature of “love”
and that of others
whose hearts are whimsical
swayed by things
like beauty and lust
not loyalty and trust
My heart is wise
My heart is strong
My heart is invincible
but something is wrong
for with wisdom has come...
a strange forgetfulness
my heart no longer remembers
the throbbing life giving beauty
of true love…
