"Pride, a bug that grips many men
Extends apace far wide and tall,
Distances relatives and friends
And was the cause of Satan`s fall."- By Author

                                                            The Wings of Icarus

                                                    To escape pangs of detention
                                                     And breathe air of liberation
                                                      Daedalus, skilful in his art,
                                                Built a flying device, quite smart,
                                           With feathers as wings, sealed with wax
                                                   For himself and his son to track;

                                                 Warning his lad with anxious eye,
                                                  He asked sun`s rays not to defy
                                                Nor fly low to inhale sea`s breath
                                                 But follow mid path above earth,
                                                   Wisdom, proven over the age,
                                                 Insight held by saints and sages.

                                                    Icarus, awestruck in his soul,
                                                 Felt freedom grasp its upper toll,
                                                 He soared on beyond the thin air
                                                   Figuring the taste with a flair,
                                                   He ascended the outer space
                                               Where hottest lights dangle apace.

                                                  Yet, pride and hubris, a disease
                                                That never keeps the soul at ease,
                                                  In silence whispered in his ears
                                                Not to give way to whims of fears,
                                                  But to wheel up to brighter rays
                                          Where angels and gods swing and sway;

                                              Swollen with pride, he dived up high
                                                     Without any strata of sigh,
                                            The sun`s fierce stare, its burning flare
                                                 Melted the wax, halted the fare,
                                                  With quills loose, down Icarus fell
                                                   In depth of the sea, like in hell;

                                          The sea, he feared, now claimed its prize
                                              With broken dreams, reduced to size:
                                            Let`s learn from this tale, myth`s deep lore
                                                 Our goals to reach, but fly no more
                                              Than wisdom`s counsel, clear and true
                                                Lest sun and sea would claim us too.

                                              Let`s learn pride to hold within bounds
                                              Keep our flight within reach of grounds
                                                    Endeavour not to soar too high
                                                    Aspire not to outreach the sky
                                                 As flames may consume us alive
                                                   If with conceit, we try to thrive.
