The White Rose

Every precious petal humbly holds its place
joined at the base
in common connection

This one white rose - whether enjoyed, envied, or embraced
Is fitted with it's own winning width.

In its life it may bring a tear,
inspire a smile,
lift a lilting spirit.
To stare at its shape is a sane escape

Choose a boutonniere
or simply stay in vase or bouquet
until it begins to wither
head bent down,
toward its bed
led by what's left of life.
There is no cause for flaunty applause

Well done. One of the floral displays from my mom’s funeral - sunflowers. Eventually , they bent their heads and died. Poignant.

Beautiful poem and analogy.. love a poem about flowers and in particular a rose, as it is my birth flower... loved so many lines in this poem, especially the last stanza..

This poem is a beautifully contemplative piece that uses the lifespan of a flower as a mirror for human existence. Great Work!
