The Whisper of Love

The whisper of the waves
speaks to me
its gentle voice is subtle
yet strong
impactful

It reminds me of the night we met
                   a moonlit night at the beach
and of the first time you spoke
the words, I love you
the whisper of those words
in my ear
moved me in a way that I had waited for
all of my life

Now, as each wave rolls in
I hear those words again and again
the whisper of love
