The Way You Are

The Way You Are You walk a line most wouldn’t see, A careful path around what's me. No sharp turns, no careless weight Just quiet moves that hold our fate. You’ve lived your life, you’ve had your past, You co-exist with ties that last. Yet still, you shift, you shape, you choose To give to me, your heart, your care, your truth. You changed your steps, you changed your day, Not for command, but in your way. No drama made, no scene to start, Just quiet offerings from the heart. You guard your words, you watch your tone, You tread like I’m carved out of clay. I see it all, the way you hold Your past in one hand, and me in gold. You balance what you cannot break, But still you give more than you take. You make the meals I once adored, From before I ever said a word You don’t pretend, you don’t perform, You keep things real, but soft and warm. And in that space, you never stray, You choose me in a thousand ways. You let me stand, you never crowd, You move beside me, calm, not loud. So let this speak the words I keep, I see you even when I’m deep. I see the care, the subtle bend, The way you love without the end. No need for noise, no need to show I feel it in the way you go. Around my pride, around my past With hands that make the moment last. You’re not just here, you honour this. With every silence, every kiss. And I won’t let that go unknown You walk with me, we’re not alone.
