'The Way of the World,' or 'You Only Live Once'

Finkelstein breezed through the Old Testament
Hebrew for him was no impediment
                   But no lobster, no shrimp?
On food he would not skimp! ,,,
Eats pork too ~ No stomach for sentiment

Ahmed thrilled to Muhammad and Allah
He thought he’d be a great Muslim fellow
What’s this? – Pray five times a day
How well is that gonna pay
                 Ahmed’s new hero ~ L. Dicaprio

Ryan Kelly, the perfect altar boy
Brought the parish priest and his parents joy
Hold on – the priest’s celibate?
First his jaw dropped, then it shut
Ryan ran to the port, yelled ‘Ship Ahoy!’

I've never been one for 'religious' traditions.....I'm in for a more soulful, spiritual experience. Been a real challenge being married to a 'hard core' Baptist who is/was steeped in tradition. :-)

Yep, easy to say one is something, but the actual practice may be inconvenient. Words are cheap. Actual commitment sometimes is blood letting. Christ the obvious example. Brilliant write! You get a FAV! Starmer and the rest of NATO, imperfect examples. Lacking backbone and a sense of honor. Disgraceful.

Many thanks or the FAVE, Joe. Every once in a while, I zing one. ~ Mr. Modesty

Easy to be observant (ie) observe but often a drag to participate--Never one for tradition. La Chaim!

Tradition? - Bah, Humbug! If the tradition no longer speaks to us today, it's ready for the museum or the glue factory. ~ gw
