The Watcher

I watched a weeping willow
Dancing with a summer breeze
A timeless dance of lovers
They'd rehearsed for centuries

The zephyr would excite her
With his warm southwesterlies
She'd gently sway both to and fro
So playfully she'd tease

Her intermittent whispers
And a rustle of her leaves
Oft times would leave him breathless
Their intensity would ease

I felt my heartbeat quicken
As I rose from on my knees
Then quietly, just like I came
Slipped back into the trees.

This is so lovely... I can see, as well as feel, the limbs swaying with the breeze... Beautifully written, Daniel :)

More creativity from your artful pen. I especially liked the final stanza with its memorable exit, "a slip back into...trees." Be well. Brian

Daniel, the musicality of your poem is beautiful, as is the romantic sensory and emotional imagery. The wind and the willow, a winning pair. An exquisite gem, my friend. Belated congratulations on your very worthy POTD honors. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

I just saw your reply to my comment down here. My daughter made me a mask made of very thin material. It's not really a mask so I can breathe well and I can walk about without people thinking "horrors, she is maskless" Also I got for my Bday a black mask that says on it BAA BAA. My daughter's says "placebo"
