The Wall On Which We Sat

Thirty-seven years ago Her vibrancy did glow Even seers could never know What seeds of love would grow An invitation then to dance Lured me from my seat Lifting me from nervous trance On two left handed feet No chit nor chat could there be had With this delightful vision Her blue eyes and her ‘way out’ hair Instilled in me decision Come outside, so we can each Hear what the other says We talked sat on a low brick wall Enrapt in tender ways She laughed at things I talked about And laid on me a kiss The very kiss that brought to me this everlasting bliss 15 September 2022 Contest: An Anniversary in an ‘A’ form Sponsor: Sara Kendrick

Thanks, Constance. I don’t really do lovey dovey stuff, but occasionally I surprise myself. Glad you enjoyed. Terry

Thanks for including me among your winners, Sara. Not my usual style of offering but I mustn’t go getting all predictable. That would never do.

I mustn’t get too predictable, Gary. Think of this one as a bit of a curve ball. Terry

Sigh, that soppy little fella claws his way out occasionally but I’ve got the measure of him now. I just grab him by the tail, tuck him away and slam the lid on him. Can’t be getting myself a reputation for squidginess… that would never do. Glad you liked his evil jottings though, perhaps I’ll let him out again at valentines. ;-)

Thanks, Vickey. I guess when you click, you click. I guess it also helps that I’m the spitting image of Brad Pitt and that Annie is shortsighted… only one of which is true! ;-) Terry

On 31 August 1985, Annie and I met at a wedding reception. IT WAS LOUD!!! We went outside to chat, and there was a ‘seat height’ wall. We sat and we chatted all night long. All the rest is history, and I often wonder if that wall is still there. By the way… her hair was damned near maroon!

Thank you, Jenna. I’ve added an explanatory comment (above) which I left out of the posted poem for identification reasons. It’s all true which makes me a proper slush puppy. Yikes… I need comedy! Terry
