The Walk
Mile after mile we walk this long road
The years disappear behind us
We struggle to appease those who watch over us
It's in vain my friend, in vain
The course of life can he hard
This tortuous route becomes our master
Unseen hazards force our hand
Valleys unfold and mountains beckon
The green extends and fills my eyes
Along the road to the sea
The blues merge across the horizon
Gulls they whirl around my head
Sounds drift in with the ocean
Tales from a distance arrive on the wing
Seascapes full of wild emotions
The colours combine to create a scene
Surreal but inviting thoughts of the mind
The sun is overhead with golden rays down
A vision of beauty explodes from within
Along the road to the sea
Another mile passes, its gone with the dust
Distance is covered without any concern
Only life's obstacles disturb our route
We follow, we lead and we learn
Along the road of life
As dawn approaches, fighting the black
The sky rejoices with colourful praise
All planetary sparkle is withdrawn from view
Gone till after the next spell of red
And so on and on we go.
