The Waiting Game

Waiting for the inevitable
Fearful it'll never arrive
Letting the universe decide
What will be will be
But did I earn the right to enjoy the ride?

Dear Avery, your poem is deep and thought-provoking.. this could simply be about the constant fret of anxiety or this could be about the anticipation of the inevitable end of one's life. I'm going with the latter.. Your last line is especially evocative and emotive. Congratulations for your excellent win in Line's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Such an astute little poem, Avery. You know, I've stopped fretting about world affairs because there is not a single one of them I have any influence over. I must live in the time I have, but, by golly, I'm going to enjoy it. I can't do that if I'm constantly fretting over things I have no control over. Loved your poem!
