The Wait
The Wait.
Kling after kling
Chain After chains
I can feel the unseen
rope tighten around my neck.
I swallow and wait
Waiting for my turn.
Waiting To be sold.
I can feel my stomach tighten
of Hunger and Pain.
My throat dried of thirst.
Waiting for my turn
Waiting beside my brothers
Waiting to be sold.
Is this how my ancestors feeled?
Helplessness, emptiness and Anger
as I wait.
Waiting to be sold.
Why? Oh Why?
Closing my eyes and hoping
for it to be a lie.
A lie
For its too unreal
For I am to be sold
Into slavery
In the 21st century.
May the Wait
Kill me
As the betrayal is
Too much to bear.
Betrayed by my Landsmann
Betrayed by my Homeland
Betrayed by the world
As they watch with
their eyes open, as i wait.
Waiting to be sold
In the 21st Century .
