The Veil Pt 2
If behind the veil
I see clearly
Then may my soul's
Eyes remain there
To see clearly
What is
And what could be
For I to sing with my
Soul songs of Freedom
And yet. My darker flesh
Is not at peace
For pieces of me
Are scattered here
And there
Across a diaspora
Of pigments
That do all suffer
The sin of discontent
Disconnected one
From the other
Black, Brown, White
Deeply knowing
Things are not right
In plain sight.
Reaching for ideals
Dreaming in techni-color
Following a rainbow
That neither begings or ends
So our hopes fade slowly
As Liberties are eroded
By hatred's Fear.
How dare we praise God,
And neglect Human ties
That bind above and below
Aren't our foot prints
Sublime enough to
Know
The paths and oaths
We should take for
Righteousness' Sake,
Or do we bleed on
Weeping into distant night?
Is Equality a begging Question
Or fundamentally a sound
Philosophy in a world
Where eyes only see
Materialistic and
Monetary Value
What of the fore fathers' ideals?
Boxing with God within
Hollow walls and arenas
Drowning in shallow merky
Waters
Uncommon the appearance
The form all the same
We hide in shadows
Ashamed of where we are
Further away from truth
Giving reverence to a lie
Severing all that can be
Light to dark
Night for day.
The Veil of
We, Still waters
Do run deep
So must we return
Our untimely fate
Back to God.
