THE UNWRITTEN YEAR-Rhyming Poem Poetry Contest

A blinking cursor laughs at my delay~
a white page, vast as January’s air.
No resolutions scrawled in bold or with flair,
no grand design, just silence on display.

I’ve known this pause before—when fingers hover
above the keys, when time forgets to pass.
The weight of what might be is brittle glass;
yet, something hums beneath, half-dreamt, half-lover.

The new year, like verse, refuses to be planned.
It stumbles, then it surges, then it bends.
A comma where you swore you’d place an end,
a metaphor that ripens uncommanded.

So let it come unwritten, raw, unspooled~
this year, this poem, neither tamed nor schooled.

Congratulations on your win, Sara. So much depth and original thinking in every line, which the last couplet sums up.

Great work you have penned in this one. It reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. I have faced the blank page and blank mind before then, then some sight, some sound, or some scent brings a work to my brain. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Nothing can be planned in advance. Like an unplanned poem, the year will unfold in its own way. Love the metaphors used. There is a lot of ingenuity and original thinking. I am sure it is going to be in the winners list. All the best dear Sara....
