The Unknown Librarian
behind the plastic barrier,
behind the black mask,
behind the goggles,
behind the paper bag,
behind closed eyes,
behind snorkel,
behind chaste lips,
muffled but cheery,
“hello!”
two eyes peer out
from cut out holes,
like the unknown comic -
a peerless booking.
perhaps, chaps,
the pandemic lasts
and lasts,
with a song and a dance -
a gong-tastic self-checkout.
