The Universal God

He is worshipped by all
Who on their lips put his lovely name
They sing his praise on every street
And suffer not his honour in their heart

He is the favourite of the rich
And never to be despised by the poor
The young would seek his consent
And the old begging for his approval

Him they have crowned the king of all things
And the lord to them that need him
In money lies the hope of many-
The new god of the universe
