The Unicorn and the Puppy Fable
I walked alone, no other unicorn lived
In this forest that's called life
Nosing my way amongst the flowers
Taking in all it offered without strife
One day I come across a lost puppy
I looked down on him saying
What's your name, how did u get lost
He looked up at me crying
They didn't want me
they drove here and pushed me out
Shut the car door and drove off
I did give a shout.
Why do you look strange the puppy asked
Why have you just one horn
Though beautiful it is
It looks like you were shorn
I am a unicorn puppy dear
I said with some surprise
Some say I am handsome
But I can't believe the lies
They walked together through the glen
Chatting away like friends of old
Night time came they would gather moss
Roll up together warming their nose and toes
A family came to visit the glen
Mum and dad and children two
The unicorn stepped forward
This puppy needs a home with you.
The children loved the puppy
Can we take him home
The unicorn nodded wisely
Soon he will be all alone
My time here is over
I was here to look after you
I said to the puppy, my job is finished
Now you have a home anew
The moral of my fable is:
Just like the Unicorn
Everyone is here for a purpose, given time it will be revealed.
