The Ultimate Goal

How do I leave a legacy
What do I leave behind
What good can I do
While I’m here on this earth
To affect the whole of mankind
The desire to leave a legacy
Lives within us all
Whether very near the surface
Or deep within the walls
To do something good
And leave a mark
On future generations
Gives a sense of purpose
A feeling that we mattered
In spite of our limitations
To be remembered for something I did
Or places that I went
Matters to no one but me in the end
No matter my intent
But the things I write
And the things I say
Can affect more than one
In a huge profound way
May my words travel far
And reach to the soul
To change the world
The ultimate goal

The pen is mightier than the, than the, than the... Well I was actually going to say limp strands of spaghetti, but then again, put enough good-tasting sauce on them, and those limp strands can taste 'mighty good. lol... Sometimes a few intermediate steps help us reach our 'ultimate purpose.' Smiles, Gershon

A lovely piece excellently penned Julia, I love your focus on our ultimate goal which we all need to focus on. I have just looked at your bio and you're a busy lady but one having a full life. Every blessing from Scotland, Gordon
