The Truth Stood Downcast In the Lie

The truth stood downcast in the lie
I trusted your words don't know why,
Your intensions were hard to find
I wish I could have read your mind.

You broke my heart left me to sigh
The truth stood downcast in the lie,
When truth is lost, trust is lost too
Why couldn't I stop believing you.

I believed promises you made
With passing time they all did fade,
The truth stood downcast in the lie
With wings of falsehood you did fly.

Your love was not true but false myth
Innocent eyes did hide the truth,
      Still can't imagine last goodbye
The truth stood downcast in the lie.

Unfortunately, this is a sad reality of life...all too often. Congratulations on your well deserved placement in Brian Strand's contest.

Your entry is wonderful Meenakshi. This form is a difficult one, for me anyway. You make it look easy. I hope to see this high on the winning list. Cheers, Connie ; ) 7
