The Truth, I Should Never Have Spoken

The truth, I should never have spoken.

I told the truth today,
You didnt want to hear.

You scoffed at me today,
calling me a liar!
Dont you know, I wanted to protect you?

They say the truth will set you free,
You havent spoke to me, in fact you are so bitter.
I am wondering now,
should i have stayed quiet.

But how can I stay quiet,
with this truth I know
I told the truth today,
I lost a friend.
But, at least now you know!

When lies are so easy, and truth so hard
I told the truth today, it broke your heart.
In a world full of lies, the truth is nice
but not always nice to know.

You had to know, it couldnt stay silent.
But I wonder, should I have told the truth today?

Sometimes it hard to reel the truth as we don't know how the other person will respond. Well written. Blessings ~ Debra

Perhaps sometimes it’s better to be kind rather than to say it as it is, if the recipient is unwilling to accept the truth
