Notes About The Poem

The 'Tress'Passer

I have a constant itch upon my head So I scratch it with my finger At night I head upstairs to bed But the itching continues to linger I scratched my head till early morn and I tossed and turned all night My head was itching; I felt so forlorn Something definitely wasn't quite right I checked my hair and started screaming When I discovered a little head louse It’d laid its eggs when I was dreaming I want to hide myself away in my house! I lotion my scalp, damned nits are minuscule Then I comb hundreds of eggs from my hair Guess I’ve caught them from the kids at school BUT I’M THEIR TEACHER – IT JUST ISN’T FAIR! An Unwanted Guest Contest Sponsored by Shadow Hamilton Pure Fiction write .. but I can't stop itching since I wrote this! 02~22~17

Hi Jan, okay this is sooooo funny! While I have never had to deal with these pests, I know people who were literally besieged by an army of lice and of course I kept my distance! Enjoyed this humorous piece. Definitely a winner! Hugs. Pandita

My son had nits when he was in primary school - I worked in school for 16 years and was lucky to never get them. but I did work with children who did have them and it was most disconcerting as you could see them crawling in their hair:-( eww it is making me itchy:-( hugs jan xx

..this makes me squirm :-) they say all critters have purpose but I'm not sure these do, they are awful for children and a nightmare to rid of at home. I do like how well written this is, You have captured the feelings with humour and facts, no easy feat for this topic :-) Excellent writing Jan! My best to you in the contest. blessings, lynn

I'm glad to say I never got nits when I worked at school as a support assistant but I did work with kids whose hair was literally alive and on one occassion I had to kill the lice that dropped off and were crawling on the desk - they got rid of the nit nurse years ago - eww I am itching now as I type:-( hugs Jan xx
