The Torch Is Passed

The sirens wail declares approach of night
As illusion of day concedes the fight.
Eyes are cast towards fading light
The stewardship of day has passed the torch
Begins the role of fear so well rehearsed.
Will the night stay true to deadly course?

Hot within the hearts of these young men
Their anger burns unquenched tonight again.
Conquerors of the night they claim their land
Held hostage are the small ones and the great

Sheltered in their homes till morning breaks.
