The Time of Your Life
If I could go back in time,
Where would be my first stop?
Should I choose a familiar road,
Or seek out people and places unknown?
What could I learn from history's heroes and villains?
Should I tell them about their futures?
The good and the bad things to come.
Would they even believe me if I did?
Should I try to enrich my own life,
Or help others to achieve their dreams?
Could I be totally unselfish,
And appreciate what I've been given?
How would I avoid abusing this power?
To use time as my personal decadent device.
The temptation to be the master of fate,
Might corrupt all my morals.
Luckily for me, this will never happen.
Not just for the lack of such technology;
But, because the only time I can control,
Are the moments given each day.
That's all any of us can do.
So stay on the path you know to be true,
For everybody's sands are running out;
And death is just a heartbeat away.
Do you want to second guess the choices you made,
Or look back with pride on your legacy?
Either way, each and every one of us on this planet,
Will love or regret the time of our lives.
