The Tears Have Been Cried
The Tears Have Been Cried
The Banners Have Been Raised
As the thousands of Children Died
The Killers were praised
For the righteous few
Screamed for an end
While those on the pulpit fought those on the pew
But the pain would cleanse
Forgotten is empathy
It is a pity
For us to be empty
And look away to feel less ty
The words we say for ourselves and others
Would quench our thirst
But not the grieving mother
And not for those who wish they had died first
For the tears have been cried
And a solidarity call has been virtue signaled
But our meaningless pride
Will not fix those who have been mangled
By the disinformation
And the weapons of genocide
But this is our station
And the tears that I cried
