The Tale of the Tactile Heart

Did err' the tactile heart retreat,
no more to trust, no more to speak,
of hopeful folly or treasured weeks.
But only gave a duped reply.
"I will not give myself again"
the little fragile heart replied.

Oh, how the tactile heart reminisced,
of cobbled streets, the moonlit beach,
two pairs of footprints, side by side.
But caution take starstruck hearts.
"For one day the romance will depart"
the little fragile heart did sigh.

My, how the heart so bold, now frail,
limped along, beating pale.
For the blood that was once in its veins,
was given so freely, so naively.
"I have only myself to blame"
the little fragile heart cried.

See the tactile heart now small,
the big, warm heart, now shrewd.
From vanity, depravity, insolence and feuds,
the heart succumbed from life’s cruel game.
"Take heed in this dark day and age"
the little fragile heart remarked.

Well look, beside the tactile heart,
I see another big and strong.
Willing to give humble love and hope,
to an unsuspecting broken heart.
"I will not receive such love again"
the little fragile heart defied.

Now know about the tactile heart,
that chose to trust once more in love.
Despite the hardship and the struggles,
found the strength to take a risk.
"For life is nothing without love"
the joyful, selfless heart replied.
