The Sycophant
The Sycophant
By Elton Camp
“Sycophant,” just what does it mean?
It’s a person that all of us have seen
The first thing on the toady’s mind
To keep his nose up the boss’ behind
Whatever the super may come to say,
The sycophant agrees it’s just that way
The boss surely should think that it’s odd
Soon as he speaks, toady’s head will nod
This employee, not a chance will take
To help his employer avoid a mistake
If off a cliff the person is about to drive,
He says, “I am sure you’ll safely arrive.”
Such an employee’s contribution is nil,
However, he’s got a job and always will
Because if the simple truth’s what we say,
Many bosses really prefer it to be that way
